His nurses informed him he had been mugged and drugged, and that he had sustained brain haemorrhaging and severed nerves in his skull, among other injuries.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - 3,332 miles from cow dung</image:title>
<image:caption>Every Sunday during the three months I spent volunteering on a coastal Irish farm in 2015, I ran five miles to the nearest pub that had Wi-Fi, where I would download the previous week’s episodes of “Around The Horn” and “Pardon The Interruption.” It was during the laborious hours spent shoveling wet cattle dung and planting carrot seeds too tiny for my chubby fingers to maneuver—while listening to week-old sports podcasts—that I found the career guiding light I went searching for. Since that summer, I’ve lived in nine different cities; earned a master’s degree in sports journalism; reported abroad for an international newspaper; hosted my own podcast for an MLB team; and interned as a sports television producer. I currently work on The Ringer copy desk as a fact checker and researcher.</image:caption>
